SAGES RETIREE CLUB NEWSLETTER UPDATE

Hello Sages Members,

Thank goodness that Fall has arrived with the summertime heat and drought gone.  Now we enjoy green grass again and colorful fall leaves before cooler weather.

Perhaps, with Thanksgiving and December coming soon, it is a good time to say Thank You to the many Sages who make the Retiree Club fun and successful.  I sometimes mention that it takes a Team to keep the Club moving forward.  Yes, thanks to all the Sages Retiree Club Officers; Executive Board Members; Sages Committee Members; Editor of our Sages Pages Newsletter; Chair and Co-Chairs of Luncheons and Special Events; Boeing Representative, Annie Harper; Boeing Co. overall support; and of course, all of you Sages Members who have already provided (or plan to provide) your Sages Membership Dues.  Everyone is important and appreciated.  NOTE:  the Sages Retiree Club Officers, Executive Board Members and Committee Members are listed in each Sages Pages issue.

The Sages Annual September Picnic was well attended with great weather, good food, fun games and renewed teammate friendships.  The Lewis and Clark Museum Tour, St. Charles, Mo. was a New Sages Social Activity.  (See separate Sages Pages articles for those details.)

The last 2024 Sages Social Event is our December 10, 2024, Luncheon and Tea Dance (Afternoon Social Event.)  (See more details on the Event in this Sages Pages issue.)  The afternoon schedule has been met with much interest.  Send your Reservation Forms soon.

Thanks for your continued support.

Happy Thanksgiving and Happy December Holiday Season.

Harold Hunt

The SAGES 2024 Annual Picnic was Wednesday, September 11,

At Blanchette Park, 1900 W. Randolph St., St. Charles, MO

Logo Description automatically generatedSeveral arrived early to help set up games; Corn Hole, Washer Toss, Bocce, and Picniczee. Thank you.

52 SAGES attended the picnic this year. A good turn-out!

The weather was perfect. We began the day with coffee. Games followed.  Team games Corn Hole, Bocce Ball and Washer Toss, and individual game Picniczee were held on the shaded park grounds. Several served as game captains; who kept the games moving.

Lunch was served about 12:00 AM. Bob led the pledge of allegiance. Harold asked blessing and mentioned 911. Jerry read a short 911 testimonial. A traditional BBQ lunch of brats, pork steak, or chicken, with potato salad, coleslaw, and cookies was enjoyed. Thanks to our caterer; MidTown Market.

Annie, our BOEING representative, gave a report of company activities after lunch.
The afternoon was filled with completing the morning games and game prize presentation. Candy bars and popcorn and cash was awarded as prizes to the top 3 in each game. Then 8 games of Bingo. Ginny and Harold do a great job of organizing and running Bingo. Each game had a cash prize. The top prize was $15.

Of course, the day was also be filled with fellowship and conversation.
We agreed to meet in 2025 at the same location the second Wednesday in September.
Thanks to all who attended and helped.

Lola and Bob, Chairs

SAGES 2024 Lewis and Clark Boathouse Museum Outing

Wednesday, October 9, 2024

24 SAGES attended the Lewis and Clark Boathouse Museum Wednesday 9 October 2024. We toured the Museum and watched a movie about Lewis and Clarks experiences.

The Lewis and Clark Expedition, also known as the Corps of Discovery Expedition, explored the newly acquired western portion of the country as part of the Louisiana Purchase.

Several commented that the movie was good.

Following the Museum event, we went to the Schlafly Bankside restaurant for lunch. They had a good selection of lunch specials.

A few walked to the Lewis and Clark statue in Riverside Park, where Sculptor Bill Schnarr explained the process of making four busts of people connected with the Discovery Expedition, which he had sculpted. Bill and Sharon Schnarr joined us for lunch.

Lola and Bob Williamson, Chairs.

Ed. Note: Thanks to you Lola and Bob, for arranging both of these events.
